Finished Preliminary Task front cover/Contents Page
Beginning photoshop
Here is a short analysis of my use of photoshop after the demonstration we were given. I have labelled the different tools that I have used so far to create the front cover. Some of these include the lasso tool, custom shape tool and blending tools.
Analysis of Contents Page/Two Page Spread

Here is my analysis of a contents page and a two page spread article from Kerrang magazine. It has helped me to analyse why certain techniques are used to create the success of a magazine.

Preliminary task images
This is the image I will use for my front cover - 'Netball Player of the Year'. The paper she is holding is the certificate that she has achieved for her part in the netball team.
This image is used for the contents page for being the editor of the magazine. Alongside this image will be a 'message from the editor', so this image is used so the audience know who is behind it all.
The next four images are the final art works that will be displayed in the contents page to show what will be inside. The idea of showing four of them is to make it more appealing to the reader because after seeing a few, they may want to see more

Analysing a music magazine
I analysed the front cover of Kerrang! Magazine so I could see how magazines are designed to attract their audience. I looked at the colours, images, font and text used which has helped me think more about what I want to do for my music magazine.
Plan of preliminary task
This is my plan for the front cover of my school magazine. I will use a large image of a pupil who has achieved a certificate for something they have been a part of in the school, for example - best sport player of the month.
I have included the school logo and the school name including the 'sixth formers' part to ensure they know it is aimed at sixth formers.
Any events happening or anything inside is included on the front with enough detail for them to know what is going to be included inside.
The contents page will include an image of what is to be shown on a certain page (art work) and also an image of the editor included. There will be a list of the contents with the page numbers so it's easier for them to know which page is which. Along with the image of the editor will be words from them of what is to be expected within this issue.

Plan of preliminary task
The target audience for my school magazine will be 16-19 year olds, from year 11's - year 13's as it is going to be a sixth form magazine. The idea of year 11's being part of my target audience is because it is trying to encourage them to join the sixth form by including things about sixth formers aswell. The idea of sixth formers being another half of the target audience is to inform them of upcoming events within the sixth form, or things that people have achieved. The language for this magazine will be more informal because of the age group, using more simple language that they are likely to use themselves.
The content will include things going on within the sixth form - maybe a sporting event or a music event - something a pupil has done or achieved and maybe some entertainment, like a small quiz.
The images I will use will be of pupils within the sixth form, or the actual sixth form itself. The front cover will contain an image of a pupil for the most part of it, who has done something in a particular subject. It would be larger because it is something likely to attract someone to the magazine.
The font and colour of the magazine would also have to attract the audience, so to make it eyecatching I would make it colourful so that it's likely to be noticed.
